Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission should be unpublished elsewhere and not under consideration by another journal (or an explanation should be provided in the cover letter to the editor)
  • The submission file should be in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document format.
  • If available, URLs for references should be provided.
  • The text should be single-spaced; use 11-point font; employ italics instead of underlining (except for URLs); and all illustrations, figures, and tables should be placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the style and bibliography requirements outlined in the author guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Manuscript

The manuscript must be an original research paper that provides a significant new contribution to the fields of Sports Education & Recreation, Sports Management, and Sports Science. Authors are required to submit their papers electronically using Menssana: Physical Education, Health, and online submission procedures. Authors must also provide a statement confirming that the manuscript is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Submissions that do not follow these procedures will be disregarded by the editor.

Manuscript Structure

  1.  Title, The title should be clear and informative, and no longer than 12 words.
  2. Author Names and Institution, Author names should be accompanied by their institutions and email addresses, without academic titles. For co-authored papers, one author should be designated as the corresponding author.
  3. Abstract and Keywords, The abstract should be less than 200 words. It should include the purpose, methods, and results. Please provide the abstract in both English and Indonesian. Keywords should consist of 3 to 5 words or phrases.
  4. Introduction, This section explains the background of the research, a review of previous studies in the area, and the objectives of the manuscript. It should also highlight the significance and novelty of the research.
  5. Methods, This section describes the appropriate analytical tools along with the data and its sources.
  6. Results and Discussion, This section explains the research findings. It should be presented clearly and concisely. Authors should explore the novelty or contribution of the work to the science education literature.
  7. Conclusion, This section summarizes and provides policy implications, if any, of the research. The conclusion should follow the same order as discussed in the body of the manuscript.
  8. References, This section lists only the papers, books, or other types of publications cited in the body of the manuscript.

General Writing Format

  1. Manuscripts should be prepared in A4 paper format, double-sided, with single line spacing. New paragraphs should start 5 characters from the left margin, using Times New Roman font in size 11.

  2. Manuscripts can be written in either Indonesian or English.

  3. The length of the manuscript should be between 5 to 15 pages (5000-7000 words).

  4. Top and bottom margins should be 1.5 cm and 0.8 cm, respectively.

  5. The title should be written in uppercase only for the first word or proper nouns (e.g., place names), in font size 12, and centered.

  6. Text should be written in UPPERCASE BOLD, font size 11, starting from the left margin.

  7. Subtitles, if present, should be written in uppercase only for the first word or proper nouns. They should start from the left margin.

  8. Sub-subtitles, if any, should be written with the first letter of each word capitalized except for connecting words, and should be italicized. They should start from the left margin.

  9. References should be from publications of the last ten years (> 80%), except for seminal references (80%). References to textbooks should be minimized (<20%).

Special Writing Format

  1. Equations and formulas must be numbered as (1), (2), etc., and the numbers should appear on their right side.

  2. Estimation results from software packages are not allowed to be presented directly in the manuscript. They must be presented in summary tables.

Table and Figure

Tables and figures should be presented as follows:

  1. Table and figure names must follow an Arabic numbering system. Titles of tables and figures should be placed at the top and bottom, respectively.

  2. Tables and figures must provide the source of information, if applicable, at the bottom.

  3. Each table should only include headings and content. Tables should contain only horizontal lines without column lines. Notes and sources should be included below the respective table.

Acknowledgments

Acknowledgments, if any, should be written as a footnote to the title of the manuscript.

Subject and Author Index

Authors should provide a subject index, which includes specific terms within the manuscript. Authors should also provide an author index, which lists key authors of papers cited in the manuscript. Please write the last name followed by the first name.

Citations

Citations within the text should be written as follows:

  1. Hill (2001) argues that the purpose of depreciation is ...
  2. Inflation targeting will be sufficient (McCain, 1982).
  3. The definition of contagion is ... (Wagner, 1976; Rhonda, 2009).
  4. Authors are advised to use Mendeley Reference Manager for managing references.

References

The manuscript is expected to include approximately 20-25 primary and recent references to affirm its high-quality contribution to knowledge development. Citations and references must strictly follow the APA (American Psychological Association) style. References should include only works cited in the text of the manuscript. Consulting the APA style manual (http://www.apastyle.org/pubmanual.html) is highly recommended to finalize the manuscript submission.

REFERENCES

The bibliography compilation, following standard techniques, should be done by default and consistently. To maintain consistency in referencing style, citations and bibliographies should use a reference management application, such as Zotero, Mendeley, or other similar applications. It should be written in single space, with a 1-space gap between entries. Examples of how to format references in the bibliography are provided below
